Peaceful progression wake up alarm

Here is something for the lazy to rise guys like me, a progressive alarm clock that wakes you gently. Making use of a combination of ambient light, stimulating aromas and nature sounds, it wakes you to give a completely fresh morning.

Here is how it works: Half an hour before the set wake up time, the light starts glowing dimly. It gradually gets brighter as the 30 minutes progresses. The slow brightening heats up the lamp, which causes the aromatherapy beads to release a gentle scent. At 15 minutes before the soft, peaceful sounds begin. When the alarm hits the set wake-up time, the process is completed with a last sound, including many choices like 'nightfall', 'thunderstorm', etc. Adding the sight and smell elements to whole waking up process is great.

The pack includes 4 pack of aromatherapy beads, 10 removable felt disks for the aroma bowl. The unit works in A/C power or can be used with the support of two AA size batteries.

BlackBerry Bold 9700s arrive at T-Mobile stores – but not for sale yet

There are rumours going around that T-mobile’s retail outlets have started receiving their shipments of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700smartphones. While I am pretty sure they won’t sell them early to any berry fans no matter how much you beg or plead. But hey, its worth a try right? In case you haven’t heard of it, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is RIM’s new revision of their earlier BlackBerry Bold 9000. It has potential to be the BlackBerry of your dreams with a whole arsenal of features. Almost every single GSM carrier on the planet is bound to pick it up sooner or later.

While it will be available on-contract with AT&T, Rogers and T-Mobile, the Blackberry Bold 9700 has also been spotted sim-free at MobileFun, an online retailer in the UK, at a launch price of £379.75 . If you don’t mind getting a contract, you can get it from T-mobile for $199.99 after a $100 MIR on 2-year contracts from T-mobile once it comes out on Monday.

The new BlackBerry Bold comes with a 2.44 inch HVGA+ display and full QWERTY keyboard and solves many of the problems reported by the users of the original Bold. It is poacked into a smaller, stylish streamlined form and utilizes Blackberry’s latest operating

,hcthe BlackBerry OS 5.0 . It supports full syncing with Mac and is more responsive and intuitive to operate.

The 3.2 megapixel camera is much improved than that on its predecessor and has autofocus along with 1Gb of internal memory to store the pics. And if you want more,. you can expand it with a microSDHC card. The old trackball has been replaced by a touch-sensitive trackpad that makes the phone much more responsive. Other goodies include A-GPS, Wi-Fi b/g, and Bluetooth.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 packs some damn good features, but it will need to some good fan-following and stay firm against the horde of new sexy phones invading the market such as the HTC Hero and Droid Eris.

Dell has just announced that it will be launcing it’s first Google Android powered smartphone, in China and Brazil, the Dell Mini 3.

The Dell Mini 3 will be available in China and Brazil later this month, although Dell haven’t revealed any details on pricing or the exact launch date for both countries.

Our entry into the smart phone category is a logical extension of Dell’s consumer product evolution over the past two years,” said Ron Garriques, President, Dell Global Consumer Group. “We are developing smaller and smarter mobile products that enable our customers to take their internet experience out of the home and do the things they want to do whenever and wherever they want.“

There is still no news on when we are likely to see the Dell Mini 3 launch in the US and Europe, althoughDell have confirmed that they have partnerships with Vodafone in Europe and AT&T in the US for the Dell Mini 3 Smartphone

Google Chrome OS To Launch Within A Week?

According to Tech Crunch, Google [GOOG] are set to launch their Chrome OS shortly, and it could be available within the next week.

Google’s Chrome OS will initially be designed to be used with netbooks, and apparently they have been working with a number of companies on the project which include, Aver, Addobe, Asus, Freescale, HP and Qualcomm.

Google’s Chrome OS project, first announced in July, will become available for download within a week, we’ve heard from a reliable source. Google previously said to expect an early version of the OS in the fall.

It will be intersting to see what the Google Chrome OS is like, and it may give netbook users a decent option to Windows XP and Windows 7.

HP dm3t review

We're really into the new influx of inexpensive CULV-based laptops that's arrived with Windows 7, and just like the ASUS UL80Vt, we knew we had to check out the starts-at-$599 HP dm3t the second we saw the first leak. In many ways, it's the perfect throw-it-in-a-bag-and-go portable on paper, with a sleek and rigid case design, a 1.3GHz Intel SU7300 Core 2 Duo processor, and a 13.3-inch screen, but there's a big difference between loving a machine's spec sheets and reviews and loving it in real life, so we spent a couple days playing with a spec'd-up $819 model -- read on for our impressions.

Hardware

Externally, the dm3 is a beautiful machine at first glance. It's very similar to the dv2, which we were also quite fond of, but the Intel processor inside doesn't run nearly as hot as the dv2's AMD chip, so there's no insane fan noise, and temperatures stay fairly low -- it gets warm, sure, but it's not anything like the dv2's nuclear-meltdown heat levels.

Port selection is pretty generous: round the left side you'll find Ethernet, VGA, HDMI, two USB, an SD card slot, and 3.5mm headphone and line-in jacks, and there's two more USB on the left side along with the power switch and a WiFi / Bluetooth radio toggle. The battery fits flush into a compartment on the bottom, so any extended packs you might get will tilt things up.

Structurally we've got to hand it to HP -- we've felt quite a few thin-and-lights flex in our hands as we've picked them up, but the dm3 is remarkably solid -- it's hard to even bend or twist with two hands at opposite corners. As you might expect, that means the chiclet-style keyboard is equally solid, and we had no major complaints as we typed this review on it -- sure, there's a slight gummy feeling to each keypress, but you'd have to be a major keyboard snob (like us) to really notice or care about it, and we'd bet most people will be thrilled with it.

That said, we're equally certain that most people will find the trackpad to be a terrible abomination. Just like the dv2 and most other recent consumer HP laptops, the dm3's trackpad is covered in a ridiculous nasty chrome finish that makes tracking and dragging frustratingly slow and inaccurate. It's seriously one of the worst trackpads we've ever used -- and to top it off, the buttons are insanely stiff and placed too high, meaning you constantly try and click the lower rim of the case instead of the buttons themselves. It's just bad news overall -- we actually thought about taking some sandpaper to the trackpad surface to try and make it a little better.

Up top the 13.3-inch 1280 x 800 display is, well, pretty awful. Not only is it relatively dim, but it suffers from some abysmal vertical viewing angles -- we found ourselves constantly adjusting the screen tilt to compensate for washed out colors and poor contrast. We have no idea why display quality is always the first casualty of lower prices, but that's just how it goes, and the dm3t doesn't buck this unfortunate trend.

Software and performance

It's sort of interesting that we've all gotten used to how good Windows 7 is in its pure, factory-fresh state, when Microsoft is upfront in saying that most people will first experience 7 preloaded on a new machine -- complete with vendor modifications and additions. So it was actually kind of a shock to use WIndows 7 as installed by HP on the dm3t, since you have to deal with a lot of extra sluggish junk, like endless Norton pop-ups, a pushy, semi-automated HP software updater that will default to installing all updates without confirmation if you so much as breathe on it, and HP's MediaSmart toolbar and software, which just seems like a waste of time. After a while we were longing for our pristine install of 7 Home Premium -- we'd recommend dm3t buyers reinstall and clean house before settling in.

All that said, the dm3t was a more than capable performer when we finally got to work, and we never experienced any meaningful slowdowns or choppiness while we went about our business -- editing documents and photos, browsing, watching videos. We even managed to play that new 1080p YouTube clip, which is pretty impressive for a machine of this size. (Watching HD video on such a mediocre display was pretty sad, though. Thank god for HDMI out, right?) If you're a gamer you're going to want to spring for the optional $50 NVIDIA GeForce G 105M card -- the Intel integrated GMA4500MHD graphics in our tester couldn't really handle anything more than light duty, as you'd expect.

Battery life was pretty terrific -- Intel's CULV chips sip juice, and we got a fairly consistent nine hours or so of general usage on a charge. We're sure that would have gone down if we'd been really pushing the system, but if you're just generally using a computer to do computer stuff, the dm3t should last you a solid day. Hard to complain about that.

Wrap up

Man, we really wanted to fall in love with the dm3t. It's small, sexy, and about as well-built as any other PC laptop we've seen in a while, and the spec list is solid, if not spectacular. But it's hard to fall in love with any laptop that has both a substandard display and a terrible trackpad -- the two parts of a machine you spend the most time interacting with. It's particularly frustrating because they're such obvious and glaring flaws in an otherwise excellent machine, and we simply have no idea how or why HP decided to ship the dm3t without fixing them. Now, where's that sandpaper?

T-Mobile set to ship Samsung Behold II Android smartphone on November 18

The Samsung Behold II had been waiting to take off on T-Mobile for quite some time now. The carrier has now announced the date of launch. The Android 1.5 based phone will start shipping on November 18.

T-Mobile is most likely to price the device between $200 and $230 on a two-year contract. Though the tag has not been confirmed by the carrier, it is expected not to cost more than that. Dubbed as Samsung’s first phone to bring its TouchWiz interface, the Behold II would lure with a 3D cube menu, offering all shortcuts to tasks you need to perform. On the storage front, there are the microSDHC cards.

T-Mobile will also step into the active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) touchscreen arena with the Behold II. The hues just captivate without impacting battery life. Set to come riding T-Mobile’s 3G network, the Samsung Behold II will incorporate a 5-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity options. These features, in turn, make the Behold II scale the same platform as most of the smartphones available today.

Further, the handset will come carrying the entire range of Google suite of apps. This apart, the Android Market would be yours to pick from for third-party apps. We like the colors the display emanates and think the TouchWiz interface can be one reason why enthusiasts would feel like rushing to stores. We are waiting for November 18.
